GRHC Recognized For Leadership In Green Building
Green Roofs for Healthy Cities, a not-for-profit association for the green roof industry, has earned a spot on the Green@Work magazine’s Green Build Top 25 List.
The list, which recognizes leadership in the green building industry, is featured in the November 2007 edition of the U.S.-based magazine for corporate social responsibility. The issue’s release coincided with the U.S. Green Building Council’s annual Green Building show which took place Nov. 7 to 9, 2007.
“Our nation needs thought leaders and leaders who understand the need for action,” said Mark Parsons, from Green@Work in his announcement. “Corporations who offer solutions to the complex problems we face in today’s world, who understand the importance of green buildings. GRHC is the only not-for-profit organization on the Green Build list.
“Your high standards and reputation for environmental responsibility and sustainable development have set (GRHC) apart,” Parsons said. “Your commitment to continually increasing your value to stakeholders is exemplary. You have met the environmental challenge by enhancing the quality of life in communities across America.”
Steven Peck, founder and president of GRHC, is pleased to have his entire team’s work recognized – and that includes all of the stakeholders such as corporate and individual members – as well, of course, as the organization’s hard-working staff.
“Our mission from day one was to increase the awareness of the extraordinary benefits a green roof, green walls and other forms of living architecture can provide,” Peck said.
“We are thrilled to earn this recognition for our leadership in developing the industry because the more green roofs there are, the better off every living being on the planet is. Humans get to live and work in healthier cities; wildlife gains precious habitat; and, of course, businesses save money. Green roofs are a win-win for everyone.”
