Building Relationships in the Roofing Industry
2009 Joint OIRCA/RCI Conference: September 25, 26, & 27, Blue Mountain Resort, Collingwood, Ontario
The theme for this year’s inaugural OIRCA/RCI Conference seems rather apropos. For several years now there has been a voluntary duality of membership between our two organizations.
It started when OIRCA established a Consultant Membership category, which ultimately resulted in a Board of Directors position for a Consultant Member. A few years later, RCI Ontario Chapter reciprocated by creating an Industry Membership position for a roofing contractor on it’s Board of Directors.
Although RCI Inc. in the U.S. has expanded the Association’s role to embrace the entire building envelope, the Ontario membership still is predominantly involved with roofing specific consulting. OIRCA and RCI members regularly work together with each other’s clientele.
Added to the mix is our strong relationship with the manufacturers and suppliers of our industry, who support both organizations and are an important part of this triumvirate.
This year’s conference will provide all attendees, regardless of denomination, with a solid combination of technical and business sessions along with a myriad of social activities. Seminars will cover the following timely topics: cold applied roofing systems, integrating photovoltaics onto roofs, roofing sustainability, contractual and insurance relationships between roofer and consultant and the latest technology available to roofing industry management.
We have encouraged delegates to bring along their families so that they can enjoy a well-deserved mini-holiday during this traditionally busy time of year. As for our host, Blue Mountain Resort, if members have not visited Blue recently, delegates are in for a very pleasant surprise. Blue Mountain village is fabulous.
