Tennant Company Introduces WearGuard-CRU™ 250 Urethane Topcoats
Tennant Company, a leading manufacturer of surface maintenance equipment and coatings, has announced the reformulation of its popular Wear Guard-CRU chemical-resistant urethane topcoats to meet the strict Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) requirements of the Lake Michigan Air Directors Consortium (LADCO), the Ozone Transport Commission (OTC), and the Chemicals Control Branch of Environment Canada.
Since September 1999, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has limited the emissions of VOCs from industrial maintenance coatings to 450 g/L. Several states and counties have even more stringent VOC limits, restricting emissions to as low as 100 g/L. while the original  WearGuard-CRU coatings have always met EPA VOC regulations, the reformulated coatings, under the name WearGuard-CRU 250 remain below 250 g/L, complying with many of the more stringent state and country standards as well.
“The introduction of our WearGuard-CRU 250 coatings is yet another example of how Tennant Company is continuing its leadership role in environmental stewardship and sustainability,” said Tom Harris, global coatings product manager with Tennant. “Our CRU 250 coatings join many other Tennant coating products that have for years offered reduce solvent emissions below 450 g/L, 250 g/L and even 100 g/L.”
Harris said that WearGuard-CRU 250 coatings offer not only reduced solvents but also superior chemical wear resistance and UV light stability. More specifically, like their predecessors, WearGuard-CRU 250 coatings are said to be extremely durable, withstanding Skydrol®, jet fuels and other industrial chemicals; create a safer workplace by offering superior light reflectivity; and come in a 100 per cent aliphatic, non-yellowing formula to maintain their appearance over time.
The topcoats are available in white, light grey and grey.
