GAF MATERIAL CORPORATION TO BUILD NEW TPO MANUFACTURING FACILITY

GAF Material Corporation has announced plans to build a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for production of its EverGuard® TPO roofing membranes. GAF expects this facility to be fully operational by the third quarter of 2007.

Located in Gainsville, TX, approximately 50 miles north of Dallas, this 185,000 sq. foot facility is strategically positioned to provide quality TPO membrane and accessory products to support growth primarily in the western and southern markets. The new facility will be one of the largest operational production lines devoted solely to the production of TPO-based single ply membrane roofing products in North America.

With the opening of the new facility, GAF’s existing Mount Vernon, Ind., TPO factory will focus primarily on servicing the central and northern markets. Over the past five years, the Mount Vernon facility has earned a reputation for exceptional quality and service.

“Opening this new manufacturing facility enables GAF to continue to support the requirements of our customers for high quality single-ply membranes that include exceptional, industry-leading warranties,” said Bob Tafaro, GAF CEO.

Vic Anthony, vice president of Low Slope Roofing Systems, said that “This (facility) will expand our capability of producing Freedom, our rapidly growing self-adhered TPO membrane. Freedom is a great example of providing an exceptional product with a total installed cost that provides extraordinary value, and this new capacity will help assure supply of this innovative product.”

“Growing support by specifiers, property owners, contractors and distributors for GAF, in general, combined with the overall continuing strong TPO market growth requires that we add additional manufacturing support,” said Dave Harrison, senior vice present for Marketing and Contractor Services. “The GAF promise is to help supportive contractors and distributors build their business and avoid hassles, and also provide property owners and specifiers with their best and safest choice in roofing systems. This new facility is another step in fulfilling these promises.”

GAF is one of North America’s largest roofing manufacturers, with products in all major technologies and systems including repair, restoration and membranes for both steep and low slope roofing. GAF has 28 facilities devoted to the manufacture of roofing products.
