Larry Shideler Of Proteam Receives 2007 Pinnacle Award

The (OS1) Users Group has selected Larry Shideler, founder of ProTeam the Vacuum Company, as the recipient of the prestigious 2007 Pinnacle Award. The Pinnacle Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the cleaning industry, and is awarded by a wide range of custodial organizations actively engaged in benchmarking best practices.

Shideler was chosen for his contributions to the cleaning industry by a vote of over 300 organizations and several hundred leaders who have attended Janitor University since 1993.

“Larry’s lifelong contributions to the industry have added professionalism to the image of the cleaning workers and the important role they play in society,” said Paul Condie, president of the (OS1) Users Group and chairman of the (OS1) Power Users. “His contributions have improved the health of all building occupants by providing a safer work environment with better quality air and increased focus on ergonomics. We look forward to presenting Larry with this award.”

In 1987, Shideler founded ProTeam and introduced the first successful lightweight backpack vacuum to the commercial cleaning world. His innovation quickly became a global phenomenon in the industry for its efficiency, ease of use and ergonomic comfort. In large part, ProTeam’s success was also due to the company’s development of two key educational concepts: Cleaning for Health™ (1987) and Team Cleaning® (1991). ProTeam’s focus on innovative programs and education continues today, now strengthened by a five-year educational partnership with the American Lung Association.

This year marks the 20th Anniversary for ProTeam.

“I’m honoured to receive this award, especially on such an important milestone year for ProTeam,” Shideler said.

Shideler will be presented the Pinnacle Award at the (OS1) Users Award Banquet in Williamsburg, Virginia on Jul. 20, 2007.
