Stay in the Loop
at ISSA/INTERCLEAN® USA
Your ticket to
success in the cleaning industry this year is at ISSA/INTERCLEAN® USA, Oct. 4
to 7, at McCormick Place in Chicago, Ill. – where you’ll find more than 75 new
exhibitors; more than 50 seminars, workshops and networking events; plus even
more entertainment than last year’s successful Las Vegas show.
ISSA, a leading
association for the cleaning industry worldwide, and its partner Amsterdam RAI
have grown the shown to such an extent that it is attracting the likes of
Rudolph Giuliani, former mayor of New York City, NY, and possible U.S.
presidential contender, as the keynote speaker. Other famous presenters are
also scheduled, such as Philadelphia Eagles’ icon Vince Papale, who currently
has a new Disney movie in theatres about his life.
A special schedule
change occurs this year, due to ISSA’s successful attempt at securing a single
hall for the show (instead of the two halls ISSA/INTERCLEAN has previously
occupied when at McCormick Place). The ONE SHOW for the cleaning industry will
be on one continuous floor this year and will run Wednesday through Saturday
(rather than the standard Tuesday through Friday).
In addition, an
entirely new trade show will be on the same floor as ISSA/INTERCLEAN this year:
DistriPackUSA™ - the only trade show solely dedicated to industrial and food
packaging distribution. ISSA/INTERCLEAN attendees will have access to this
exhibition.
CREAM OF THE
KEYNOTE CROP
On Thurs. Oct. 5,
at 8:15 a.m., Rudolph Giuliani will draw on his experiences during the
terrorist attacks of Sep. 11, 2001, to share with attendees how everyday
leadership skills can make a world of difference when put to the ultimate test.
Basing his talk on his book (itals)Leadership(enditals), Giuliani will discuss
the lessons he has gleaned from more than 30 years in public service and
management roles, and how those lessons can be applied to handle personal,
professional and community crises of all shapes and sizes.
STAY IN THE LOOP
DURING THE ENTIRE SHOW
To assist attendee
navigation needs, a comprehensive online exhibit directory and floor map is
available at www.issa.com/exhibitors
to locate specific companies and even put out a path to visit each booth. Each
exhibitor has the ability to customize their own directory page with product
literature, special links and customized contacts for attendees to utilize.
Attendees can also select the exhibitors they plan to see and print out a
customized map that highlights those booths for easier access.
As a nod to
Chicago’s transit system and famous downtown “Loop” train route, a series of
trains on two “loops” will travel the ISSA/INTERCLEAN show floor to shuttle
attendees to and from such hot spots as the ISSA Resource Centre (Booth 1500);
the ISSA Zone Sports Bar, sponsored by Spartan Chemical Co.; and the Innovation
Stage, where an entertainment extravaganza will showcase some of the latest
products and services each hour Thursday and Friday.
For the second
year in a row, ISSA will combine tongue-in-cheek humour and entertainment to
showcase some of the newest technology in the cleaning industry, as entered
into the ISSA Innovation Award Program. Distributor and facility service
provider (FSP) attendees will receive a ballot with their badge holder, so they
can cast their votes for the most innovative products and services, after
watching a professional entertainment troupe display them in the ISSA
Innovation Revue hourly shows.
Each visitor will
also receive an Entertainment Map and Schedule to help locate train stops,
show-floor education and entertainment areas, lounges, restaurants, and many
other attractions. Descriptions and booth numbers for each of the Innovation
Award entries will be included.
SEMINARS ON-THE-GO
This year, there
is also a new education destination right on the show floor. The ISSA Education
Theatre, sponsored by Tennant Co., will offer a rolling schedule of 25-minute
mini-sessions throughout all three days of the tradeshow.
A veritable “who’s
who” of the industry will present their latest updates and education: the
Association of Residential Cleaning Services International (ARCSI), the Brigham
Young University facility management school, the Carpet and Rug Institute,
Green Seal, the Healthy Schools Campaign, the International Executive
Housekeepers Association (IEHA), and the Sanitary Supply Wholesaling
Association. A wide variety of topics will be covered, from the history of
housekeeping and green cleaning updates to product-certification programs and
customer service tips.
A FAMILY OF
ALLIANCES
ISSA once again
welcomes a number of industry groups to the show, hosting a variety of events
during the week. In addition to DistriPakUSA, IEHA will celebrate its 75th
anniversary at ISSA/INTERCLEAN during its Annual Convention while ARCSI
conducts its third annual Convention and Education Conference. The Association
of Higher Education Facilities Officers (APPA) will also bring its popular
(itals)Supervisor’s Toolkit(enditals) Workshop to the show, for in-depth,
mid-level management education (visit www.issa.com/show
for alliance event details).
Many of the
industry’s top distributor and wholesaler associations and marketing groups
will also host events or be in attendance this year, including: Advantage
Marketing Associates; AFFLINK; Canadian Sanitation Supply Association;
Consolidated Distributors Inc.; Distributor Partners of America; the Great
Lakes Sanitary Supply Association; Network Services Co.; NISSCO; PRO-LINK;
Reliable Distributors Inc.; Sanitary Supply Wholesaling Association; Triple S;
and the United Group.
RELEVANT RESOURCES
In between all the
networking, product showcasing and seminar attending, you’ll want to stop by
the ISSA Resource Centre, located at the front entrance of the show floor, to
test-drive the industry’s newest training materials and business tools.
ISSA will provide
real-time demonstrations of its latest industry software during the show – the
InfoClean workloading program and the new EcoSmart green cleaning calculator.
(For a preview, visit www.info-clean.com/ecosmart).
The association
also anticipates releasing the new Cleaning Industry Management Standard, a
collaborative effort of industry partners to create a common benchmark for
well-run, customer-centred cleaning organizations. Following a year of
committee work – representing the input of more than a dozen cleaning,
facilities management, and purchasing association and industry organizations,
ISSA will make the standard available for all attendees to access.
PARTY WITH THE
BLUES BROTHERS
No Chicago
gathering would be complete without a little hometown blues music. None other
than the Jake and Elwood Blues Revue will be crashing the ISSA/INTERCLEAN party
Friday afternoon at 3:45 p.m. to perform a live concert right on the show
floor’s Innovation Stage. This act, sanctioned by both the John Belushi Estate
and Dan Ackroyd, will liven up the show floor with classic Blues Brothers song
and dance, along with Happy Hour refreshments.
Come for the
business, stay for the fun, but whatever you do, don’t miss this year’s
unforgettable ISSA/INTERCLEAN® USA – your ticket to success in the cleaning
industry.
