Accuseam From OMG Increases Membrane Attachment Productivity

OMG Roofing Products has introduced the AccuSeam membrane attachment tool. AccuSeam is an ergonomically correct ‘stand-up’ tool for installing fasteners and plates in thermoplastic membrane used in low-slope roofing applications.

The AccuSeam tool properly positions a 2-3/8-inch EyeHook plate, commonly used for membrane attachment, and drives the fastener perpendicular for maximum engagement and pull-out performance. By setting the membrane plate and driving the fastener in one motion, AccuSeam is said to do the job that normally take two people, allowing for greater installation productivity. EyeHook plates come pre-stacked for even greater labour savings and are available through many roofing system manufacturers.

In addition the ergonomically designed tool provides roofing contractors with a healthier alternative to the typical installation technique of bending or kneeling to install each fastener and plate.

Dan Genovese, productivity manager for OMG, said that “according to labour statistics, repetitive-stress injuries and damage to soft tissue is very common among roofers. The automated AccuSeam tool eliminates the necessity of repeated bending or kneeling to installing PVC or TPO membranes and can help save a roofer’s back from these types of injuries. At the same time, it can help them to install more squares per day.”

AccuSeam is used with OMG manufactured #14 heavy duty or #15 extra heavy duty fasteners in lengths of up to six-inches and can be used on both steel and wood decks. The easy-to-use tool features a depth adjustment ring that eliminates over-driving or under-driving fasteners, and has an integrated measuring tail that allows the operator to accurately space the lap plates at either six- or 12-inches depending on the specification and rating.

Lastly, the foot or ‘boot’ of the AccuSeam tool is interchangeable with OMG’s popular AccuTrac insulation attachment tool. Contractors currently using AccuTrac insulation attachment tools can purchase the AccuSeam booth to retrofit their tools for membrane installation.
