Where the Rubber Meets the Roof

For all the changes in the roofing industry, EPDM is the home-grown, original formula for single-ply membranes. It’s been 40 years since this newcomer emerged with a radical method of waterproofing a building that saved money and could elongate with structural stresses and cope with inclement weather.
The dynamics that brought EPDM to this point are rather unique. As it came into the market, a new sales and marketing force had to be developed, along with new installation techniques using strange equipment that was more familiar to carpet installers than roofers. Read more...

Depending on the issue, doctors often base their decisions on patient outcome studies, preferably over a 5- to 10-year period. ERA Lauds Recognition Of Ballast As “Cool Roof” Alternative
The EPDM Roofing Association (ERA) lauds the recent findings of Oak Ridge National Laboratories (ORNL) and the Single Ply Roofing Institute (SPRI), in a study entitled, “Evaluating the Energy Performance of Ballasted Roof Systems.” This report was the impetus for the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the California Energy Commission (CEC) to update their ‘cool roofing’ standards, and recognize ballasted roof systems as an acceptable alternative to cool roofing mandates. John Geary Named New ERA Chairman
