The Canadian Sanitation Supply Association (CSSA) continued to flourish into the 1980s. The growth of the chapters across the country and an overwhelmingly successful trade show had given the Association a truly national presence.
The Association’s marketing vehicle, Sanitation Canada continued to report on and promote the events taking place across the country and CSSA began to recognize the achievements of their own people. On Jun. 12, (year) at a special ceremony in Vancouver, Paul Clancy was named recipient of the CSSA “Man of the Year” Award. ISSA Speaks Out On Green Seal
ISSA has called upon Green Seal® to devise a path forward that would drive out the substantial costs associated with revisions it has proposed to its environmental standard for institutional and industrial cleaners (GS-37), in comments submitted earlier this year by ISSA Legislative Affairs Director Bill Balek. U.S. Feds Propose Policy on Green Procurement

In a recent Federal Register notice, the U.S. Office of Federal Procurement Policy proposed new “green purchasing policies” that will require all U.S. federal agencies to “give preference to the acquisition of green products and services,” including environmentally preferable cleaning products and janitorial services. The proposed policy would require federal agencies to give preference to the procurement of green products and services, including bio-based products designated as such by the United States Department of Agriculture; environmentally preferable products and services; low-toxic or non-toxic, non-hazardous chemicals or materials; recycled content and/or remanufactured products; and water-efficient products. This past January Atlas Graham and the sanitation industry said good-bye to a great friend and colleague – Mr. Pierre Dumas.
Dumas’ sudden passing in January has left a void in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to have worked with him and called him a friend. With his mischievous sense of humour and affable good nature, Dumas seemingly effortlessly bridged the language barrier between English and French.
